Backyard blaze in Bell Street Hawthorn

MFB firefighters were called to attend a fire in a backyard of a home in Bell Street, Hawthorn shortly after 10:15 this morning

Initial crews arrived on scene in just over three minutes to find that the neighbouring home was being threatened by flames.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly commenced an aggressive attack on the blaze, and stop it’s spread to the neighbouring property. 

Their hard work ensured the fire was brought under control within minutes of their arrival, despite difficulties with a high fuel load. 

At the height of the fire there were 12 MFB firefighters at the scene. 

At this stage the cause of the fire has not been determined.
