The MFB have battled two fires on the same street in Preston overnight.

Fireys were first called to High Street about just before 9pm after an account’s office filled with smoke. The cause remains unknown and Fire Investigators will attend this morning.

Then at midnight MFB received called for a fire in a two-storey restaurant, the top floor of which was totally involved in fire.

Crews entered the New Europe restaurant to conduct a search for occupants, which proved difficult due to the instability of the structure as a result of the fire, no occupants have been found.

Firefighters also evacuated neighbouring residents.

There were also issues with water pressure in the area, and a specialist pumper was dispatched for this.

Firefighters used aerial appliances to extinguish the fire.

No Injuries have been reported.

A number of roads in the area were impacted with the attendance of the brigade.

No cause has been established at this early stage of the fire, however the initial reports were for an air-conditioner fire on the roof of the premises.

The two incidents are not believed to be linked.
