06 Dec 2019
Almost 30 firefighters were called to a house on Nolan Avenue in Brooklyn just after 9pm.

Initial crews arrived on scene to find a single storey weatherboard house fully engulfed by fire.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, crews worked to protect neighbouring properties.

Crews used external firefighting tactics as the tiled roof posed a threat to emergency responders.

Quick work by firefighters ensured the blaze was brought under control within approximately half an hour.

Firefighters will remain on scene into the evening as they work to extinguish any hot spots.

MFB has issued a community advice message as there was a lot of smoke in the area.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are on scene assisting MFB.

At the height of the fire there were five pumpers, one rescue unit and a command unit at the scene.

At this stage it is not known what caused the fire to start.
