Funding

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade is a fully funded organisation.

Funding is obtained from various sources, however the major source is obtained through Statutory Contributions.

The major income source of the MFB is the total contribution determined by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services under Section 36 of the Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act 1958, and subsequently approved by the Governor in Council.

Total contributions originate per Section 37 of the Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act 1958.
