Advocacy and Community Engagement
MFB firefighters are among the country’s best because of their intimate understanding of the communities they serve.
It is this understanding that enables the MFB to identify and target at-risk groups by promoting safety and coordinating emergency prevention and preparedness activities.
The MFB plays a leading role in protecting the community by:
- educating the community
- interacting with key decision makers to represent the issues affecting community safety
- conducting building inspections and monitoring maintenance compliance
- developing fire safety and emergency plans for major events
- reviewing and inspecting dangerous goods handling and storage practices
- participating in fund raising activities
